2018 Confocal microscopy workshop

To start this new year, the RQR organizes a confocal microscopy workshop directed by Denis Flipo ( Research assistant, Département des sciences biologiques, UQAM) which will be held on Thursaday February 1 st, 2018.

This workshop will take place at UQAM, pavillon des sciences biologiques, 141 av du Président-Kennedy, Montreal H2X 1Y4, from 9am to 4pm. Room SBR830.

2017 Bio-Rad qPCR Workshop: Are you MIQE Compliant?

SPEAKER: Dr. Sean Taylor, Ph.D., Bio-Rad Laboratories

qPCR is the gold standard technique for quantifying levels of RNA and DNA between samples and is accessible to most labs. However, there remains a knowledge gap with respect to the application of rigorous methodology for each step of qPCR to assure reproducible results with accurate conclusions. Proper primer design and validation must be performed and the correct references genes must be selected. The final analysis of the resulting data is not trivial and there are wide variations between labs who typically use EXCEL spreadsheets created by individuals who may or may not understand how to convert the raw data to normalize results to statistical means, standard deviations and their significance with p-values. This workshop will focus on how the MIQE guidelines have helped standardize the way research projects using qPCR are performed and will present information and tools offered by Bio-Rad to ensure compliance to the MIQE guidelines for increased transparency, reproducible results and easy publication.
